Ama Kyere, Workshop Leader
Ama is a visual artist, amateur photographer, and life-long lover of the arts. She has over ten years of experience working with children, children with special needs, at-risk youth, and youth that have been adjudicated delinquent. In the past, she has worked as an volunteer, art teacher, art therapist, and autism therapist/tutor. She has a Master’s degree in Art Therapy and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Studio Art.

Reba Elliott, Executive Director
Reba founded Lifting Voices in 2007. Prior to her work at Lifting Voices, she transformed a struggling university media center into a dynamic force for youth perspectives, sold mid-century Volkswagen parts around the country, cleaned houses, and sorted medical samples, among many other labors. She holds a master of fine arts degree in writing, and her work has been recognized with fellowships to the Folger Shakespeare Library and the Vermont Studio Center, and with nominations for the Pushcart Prize and the Greg Grummer Award. She brings a true passion for the power of words to change lives to Lifting Voices.
