Our writing workshops use the power of words to teach young people critical thinking skills. We lead at-risk young people through writing projects designed to foster their ability to inquire, be adaptable, and connect the dots.
Each writing project lasts between three and eight weeks. We employ a process-based curriculum, which means that we know what steps the young people will complete but not what their final product will look like. As facilitators, we allow the young people to take ownership of their work, and they always determine its outcome.
Our curriculum is based on research which indicates that critical thinking can be taught and that consistent, targeted writing practice can improve overall academic achievement.
